Portage Senior Service Network
One thing a lot of people don't know about the TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® brand is that we actually specialize in senior moves. Whether it be from home to a facility or vice versa, every TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® franchise has a dedicated senior moving crew. 💪
Another thing I am very proud of as the 'TMT' Akron marketer is that I have been president of our local community's senior focused networking and events group since 2019. This group, called The Portage Senior Service Network (PSSN), has been around for decades, the main goal of the group is to give back to the senior community in any way we can. We host monthly meetings and after hour events for our members where we have speakers from local senior focused businesses and we discuss our upcoming events. Whether that be education classes, trade shows, or senior events, all members are expected to volunteer for the community in any way they can.
Below are some of my favorite events I have planned and been involved with since I became president.
Harvest Ball
Every fall our main event is our Harvest Ball 'Pick of the Patch'. At this event we host over 200 seniors from across the community for lunch, entertainment, and education. Each member of PSSN is responsible for sponsoring an aspect of event so we can keep it at no cost for seniors -something we do for every event in PSSN. Another thing we do is give out awards to members of the community who have made a positive impact in the senior community over the past year. These recipients are not members of PSSN as they are chosen by us. 🏆
During the event every PSSN member has the opportunity to provide an education component as well. It can be used as a marketing opportunity to promote your senior focused business. If you know me, you'll know there is always one thing I want to be in charge of when it comes to any event; decorations. I always use my time to not only explain our stellar senior moving focused crews but to show off what decor I have created for the event. I love to explain that your moving boxes are still useful post move. I also have some movers and drivers at the event (schedule permitting) to help serve the seniors as well. Our crews love it as it is a very unique day at work not entirely spent moving furniture.
Senior Picnic
Every summer we also host our annual Senior Picnic. This event is much more low key and put on for the local community Senior Centers. This is a 'Thank You' type of event for not only the seniors themselves but the staff of the centers as well. We host around 100 seniors and provide them lunch and entertainment. We grill and serve all the food, provide corn hole and trivia and provide all the prizes for the winning teams. I of course provide all the decor for this event as well.
The nice thing about this event is it gets our moving and driving crews involved again as well. I am in charge of set up and tear down at most events and having them there with me helps the mornings fly by. Seniors always arrive early -like hours early, so to have things set up so quickly puts not only my mind at ease but the seniors too. Check out some highlights from our Senior Picnic below.
