Newsmaker Award

The spirit of the Newsmaker Award is to showcase the top earned PR hits and social media shares. The goal of awarding franchises for their earned media placement is to encourage and recognize those that value and invest in earned media and social media channels.

​

Each TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® franchise has the opportunity for their marketer to turn in a Newsmaker submission every year to be judged by our corporate office. Points are earned in 8 key areas: Media plan development, Presentation, Traditional earned media including: Television, Radio, Print, Social Media and Bonus for unique social campaign, photo or post.

I have won the Newsmaker Award five times during my time at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Akron. Below are three of my favorite submissions.

2016

#TMTAkron Social Book

My first Newsmaker submission was a simple book made to look like our 'TMT Akron' social media pages. Since my TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® Akron location does not have an Instagram, this felt like a fun little way to show off what ours would look like if we had one.

​

The marketing goals were broken down by quarter and made to look like a twitter thread. My earned media was then made to look like instagram. 

​

My earned media had four sections and a bonus; #tvstar, #coverstory, #magazinestyle, #faceforradio and #nye2017. 

​

The end of the book featured all of my highest unpaid social media hits and growth over our Facebook and Twitter accounts.

2017

Viewfinder

This year's Newsmaker submission was a blast from the past with my custom Viewfinder. The Viewfinder came with four different reels, one for marketing goals, one for Earned Media, one for Social Buzz and one for Social Insights. 

​

Each reel was also accompanied by a typewritten explanation card explaining what was on the reel. Each reel was numbered as well so you knew what order to put them in and follow along.

​

The best part was, each reel, once in the viewfinder was set up to look like a Snapchat on your phone. Talk about the past and the future colliding.

This years my newsmaker submission was my biggest yet. I created a full timeline of all of our biggest PR and social hits of the year. When fully printed it was about 5 feet tall. 

 

The top of the street starts the beginning of the year and the end of the street is the end of Q4. Each quarter is broken down along the street.

 

This one really let me unleash my creative side as everything you see from the street and trucks to the buildings and boxes was created by myself.
